Wajihi Rizvi: UT Arlington Commencement Speaker

Graduating student Wajihi Rizvi delivered the commencement speech at the University of Arlington which was was attended by by over 6000 graduates, faculty, staff and special guests. First Lady Laura Bush was the keynote speaker. Rizvi graduated with a BA Summa Cum Laude in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. She had earlier did a stint in Washington as a intern. She credited her success to her Pakistan born parents.
Rizvi also talked about her experiences as Muslim in Washington. “I came to D.C. as a an outsider…I would be clamoring to be heard…But when I left I realized that there is a greater dialogue going on. We can all have a seat at the table…The question is will you take your seat.â€
Mrs.Bush praised Rizvi’s speech by describing it as “really, really great.â€
Rizvi is now considering her options on whether to go to law school or work on a presidential campaign.
