Plans for Muslim cemetery opposed

FARMERSVILLE,TX–Plans by the Islamic Association of Collin County to develop a cemetery in Farmersville have attracted vocal opposition from residents. The proposal hasn’t even been discussed yet in the council as it isn’t ready for vote. But some residents are already venting their anger at the project with some threatening to spill pig’s blood on the land.

Muslim leaders tried to dispel the fears. “They are fearful of what they don’t understand and hopefully it’s an opportunity for us to come together and learn a little bit more about each other and hopefully dispel some of those misconceptions,” said Alia Salem with the Council on American Islamic Relations of Dallas.
