The one and only Ferrari themed amusement park, rightfully named “Ferrari Worldâ€, has officially opened right in the heart of Abu Dhabi. A soft launch took place in October 2010, but now fans all across the world can descend upon all things Ferrari. The mammoth installation stretches for miles across Yas Island, which makes it the largest indoor amusement park in the entire world. The roof of the structure is shaped like the fire engine red Ferrari logo, which is famously recognizable all over the world.
What lies inside Ferrari World is what truly sets this amusement park apart from all of the rest. The fastest roller coaster in the world, “Formula Rossa†is one of the main attractions at Ferrari World. The roller coaster clocks a speed of a brain-jarring 150 mph. According to the Ferrari website, “Formula Rossa celebrates speed, aerodynamics and technical innovation. Formula Rossa will take you on the most thrilling ride of your life.†The roller coaster is “launched†out of a hydraulics system that mirrors the ones used for jet planes. Passengers on the roller coaster are given protective eyewear to protect their eyes from the force of the wind generated as the ride accelerates.
In addition to the world’s fast roller coaster, Ferrari World boasts twenty rides geared for adults and six rides made specifically for children. A water ride for adults takes a tour of the inside of a Ferrari 12 cylinder engine. There is also another roller coaster, named the Fiorano GT Challenge that features two sets of tracks so that the coaster cars can race each other. Kids can enjoy an array of car themed rides including a small mock city that features miniature cars that children can drive around.
Cutting-edge technology also makes Ferrari World unique from the average run-of-the-mill amusement park. A series of 4-D simulators take visitors on the virtual rides of their lives. Interactive theaters and virtual travels are also available to enthrall the young and old alike.
When it comes to dining and shopping, Ferrari World has not held anything back. Ferrari World features a number of shops selling everything from personalized Ferrari souvenirs, like hats and t-shirts, to vintage Ferrari memorabilia that can be shipped either domestically or internationally right from the cash register. Guests are also treated to a host of restaurants featuring Italian food, since Italy is the birthplace of Ferrrai, as well as a wide array of International cuisines.
Ferrari World has something for everyone whether you are a racing car enthusiast, daredevil or part of a family looking for some fun and entertainment. Ticket prices are reasonable and provide a full day of accessibility to all of the rides.
