Three Arab Americans Named Rhodes Scholars

DEARBORN, Mich. – Three outstanding Arab-American students are heading to Oxford on Rhodes scholarships next year. Abdulrahman El-Sayed (previously reported by TMO), who delivered the commencement address as the top graduate of the University of Michigan in 2007, was among the three. El-Sayed was accepted into a M.D./Ph.D. program, was Phi Beta Kappa and on the lacrosse team. Aisha Saad, a graduate of the University of North Carolina, had a dual major in health science and Spanish and will study for a master’s degree in nature, society and environmental policy at Oxford. Kyle Haddad, a Harvard University graduate, studied history and Near Eastern languages and civilization and will pursue a doctorate in oriental studies.
