UPDATE
CNN has confirmed that a woman was indicted this week in the case of the five-year-old Muslim child who was kidnapped last January from a Philadelphia public school. Christina Regusters was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping and voluntary deviant sexual intercourse against Naila Robinson. According to CNN, Regusters worked at a day care center that Naila attended. Naila is the granddaughter of Imam Asim Abdur-Rashid of Philadelphia.
Following Naila’s abduction, Muslims from the local area cooperated with law enforcement authorities in searching for Naila, and after she was found cooperated in the search for her abductor.
The Muslim Alliance in North America–along with fellow Muslims and others–thank Allah that Naila was rescued and returned to her family; and we encourage continued prayers for comfort and healing for the Naila and her family.
The family’s lawyer, Tom Kline stated, “We look forward to the day when those involved in this heinous crime against an innocent precious child will be brought to justice.†As do we, and we encourage calls for justice, and for the apprehension and punishment of all those responsible for Naila’s kidnapping and the evil acts that took place during that kidnapping.
Finally, we urge diligence in safeguarding the well-being and lives of our Muslim children…and likewise, of all children.
