Muslim Wins Primary!

September 13–Keith Ellison, a Muslim African-American candidate for Minnesota’s 5th District seat in the US House of Representatives handily won his primary contest against other Democratic contenders, defeating his closest opponent, Mike Erlandson, by 10 points. Ellison had to contend with contentious challengers in a fierce race.

Minnesota’s 5th district is considered an easy seat for the Democrats, so Mr. Ellison has likely already earned himself a seat in Washington DC.
