Volunteers from the Muslim Community showed up in Large Numbers at the City Wide Club of America Thanksgiving Assistance Day at GRB
Hundreds of “American Muslim Volunteers†especially the young ones, served more than 25,000 less fortunate Houstonians, especially children and senior citizens at the traditional Citywide Club of America (CWC) 32nd Annual Thanksgiving Assistance Day at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Downtown Houston. It is also called the Big Feast Day, where other than the hot meals, volunteers from various communities give away clothes, toys, provide free medical check-up, and hair-cut to thousands.
Muslim Volunteers clad in nice light blue T-Shirts “American Muslim Volunteers†were seen everywhere doing everything from serving food, making food packages, registering volunteers & those in need, handing out clothes, mopping floors, cleaning tables, and so on. Best thing is that no pork products or alcoholic beverages were served.
Slogan of “American Muslim Volunteers†is “Offering a Helping Hand to Those in Needâ€, while “The mission of American Muslim Volunteers is to unite and facilitate community service efforts of ALL Americans. American Muslim Volunteers is committed in helping to improve the lives of ALL people regardless of race, religion, age, gender or ethnicity.â€
Several people were instrumental in organizing this effort, including Omer Zobairi, Shaukat Zakaria, Khalid Siddiqui, Rafat Qazi, Shahid Muhammad, Yameen-ul-Rehman, Qaisar Imam, Abdul Aziz Goplani, and many others.
