Hans Raj Hans Converts to Islam – His New Name is Mohammad Yousaf

Internationally famed Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans has confirmed that he had converted to Islam (as per the online media reports). He is in Lahore (Pakistan) these days. Talking to media persons at Lahore Museum, Hans Raj Hans confirmed that he had converted to Islam and he was very proud of being a Muslim now. He also declared that his new Islamic name is Mohammad Yousaf. Mohammad Yousaf (Hans Raj Hans) showed his desire of going and visiting Madina Munawara (a Holy place of Muslims in Saudi Arabia).

The singer says that Islam is the religion of love, brotherhood and peace. He mentions that what inner peace he received after converting to Islam, he cannot explain in words. The singer also explains that in the field of singing, his name would always be Hans Raj Hans, as this is how people recognize him. Well, “Hans Raj Hans converts to Islam” is what has spread all over the web.

He said that he has closely studied Islam and after knowing the religion and listening a lot from his elders, he took the decision of converting to Islam and he is proud of his decision. In his folk singing, Sufism is always there. He loves Sufism and Sufi poetry and has mentioned it many a time.

Hans Raj is not the only one from Bollywood industry who converted to Islam, before Hans  internationally renowned musical maestro and Oscar Award winner musician AR Rahman, and earlier actress Sharmila Tagore and  Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni had also converted to Islam  in past . Only  few days  back young  music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja,  son of Indian music maestro Ilayaraja, also reverted to Islam.
