Rays of Faith seminar coming to Dearborn
By Noor H. Salem
The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Allah said, “I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of.” [Sahih al-Bukahri: Book 97, Hadith 123]
This heart-poignant hadith is describing the unseen gardens, Jannah, promised for the believers. Did you ever wonder about the world of the unseen? Or perhaps pondered about the Angels assigned over you, or the role of the Devil in this dunya? Did your mind try imagining Jannah, and get a headache because your finite mind cannot even picture something so finite and unseen? Belief in the unseen is a basic fundamental of Islam. In order for one to be a true believer, you must have full Imaan (belief) in the 6 pillars. Without proper knowledge and understanding of them, how can one do so? If you need an Imaan boosting, life-changing, authentic-knowledge based understanding of these pillars; you’re in for a great opportunity! A seminar, Rays of Faith, covering these pillars in depth, is coming your way.
Qabeelah Ittihaad is bringing a life-changing seminar to Dearborn, MI starting on April 10th 2015. Al-Maghrib Institute is a non-profit organization that focuses on educating students in a social and spiritual way. It has opened Qabeelahs (chapters) in over 40 cities around the globe, including North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Over 80,000 unique students of knowledge have attended seminars, and counting. Seminars are held only during weekends, with exceptionally selected instructors who drill it down to the basis.
Rays of Faith focuses on the last 5 of the 6 Pillars of Imaan. This seminar will enlighten the minds and hearts, as we continue on our journey towards Allah (SWT) and explore the deeper meanings of the last five of the six articles of Islamic faith: Angels, Divine Books, Messengers, the Day of Judgment and Al-Qadar. Evidently, this class is essential for every individual. It will cover the pillars of faith that you’ve studied as a child, but in an exceedingly deeper structure. When it comes to knowledge, there is no cap on age. Whether you are in middle school or near retirement, there is no such thing as being complete with gaining knowledge; there is no finish line. Acquiring even the highest degree is useless, if one is not applying any of the knowledge to their life. It’s not about what you learn, but how you amend from what you learn. In fact, when we become students of knowledge, if anything, it makes us realize how little we know, and how much is still out there to reach for. It’s an edgy situation today, because with degrees and scholarly status, sincerity of gaining or preaching knowledge can be at risk. The Prophet (pbuh) used to recite a supplication in which he seeks refuge with Allah (SWT) from knowledge that has no benefit. Many of us learned this dua’a as children, and should continue supplicating it as adults.
It was narrated from Sa’eed, from Abu Hurairah who said:
“The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: “Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘ilmin la yanfa’u, wa min qalbin la yakhsha’u, wa min nafsin la tashba’u, wa min du’a’in la yusma’ (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from knowledge that is of no benefit, a heart that is not humble, a soul that is not satisfied and a supplication that is not heard.)” [Sunan an- Nasa’i: Book 50, Hadith 109]
This class will consist of an overload of beneficial knowledge about a very vital subject- the foundations of our faith. If our goal is Jannah and purpose to worship, subsequently we must seek that which can aid us on our journeys. We must pursue knowledge in order to aim in enhancing our worship, and strengthening our Imaan. Don’t tell yourself you’ll wait until you’re 30, or married, or sick to go out and seek knowledge. As Shaykh Waleed says, “You are what you do today, not what you say you’ll do tomorrow.”
As believers, we know we must believe in the seen, and the unseen. After taking this class though, you’re going to realize that the Unseen World, which is built on faith, is in reality bigger than the Seen World, which we witness today. When did you ever get a chance to study the Unseen World, Angels, Jinn, the Prophets and Messengers, the books or scriptures, your last breath, and the Hereafter, in a profound comportment, with such a knowledgeable speaker as Shaykh Dr. Waleed? This is your chance; don’t skip out on this exclusive opportunity. Just think of how companions of the past traveled for years on foot to gain just a hadith or two. You have this opportunity coming at your door, don’t make excuses stop you.
Who is Shaykh Dr. Waleed you may wonder?
Shaykh Waleed Basyouni, PhD, is the Vice President of AlMaghrib Institute and the Head of our ‘Aq?dah and Adab Department. Students know him well for his sincere care for their well-being and progress in studying. We see Shaykh Waleed as not just our senior scholar, but one of the most important leaders of the da‘wah in the West. He graduated with a Bachelor in Islamic Sciences from Al-Imam Muhammad University (KSA), did his Master’s in Islamic Theology, World Religions and Modern Religious Sects from Al-Imam Muhammad University, and achieved a Doctorate in Theology. He studied under the great scholars of our time such as Shaykh Ibn B?z, Shaykh ‘Abd’l-Razz?q al-‘Af?fi, Shaykh Ibn Jibr?n, and many others.
What do other students think of Rays of Faith with Shaykh Waleed?
“Having attended Rays of Faith in year 2008, I can reassure you that this seminar is both enlightening to the mind and spiritually up-lifting to the heart. Shaykh Waleed’s unique teaching style makes class enjoyable, and helps students to better understand the most important aspects of faith. Out of the numerous AlMaghrib seminars I’ve taken over the years, Rays of Faith was one of the best that I even registered to take it again. Don’t hesitate to register now; you’ll thank yourself later!” –Sondos Salem (Qabeelat Ittihaad, Email Marketing Head)
“A mind-blowing course that helps us to increase our imaan and conscious of Allah, this course refresh my understanding of the pillars of imaan with additional information about the difference of opinions of the scholars which makes us appreciate the efforts of the scholars of the past without passing any bad judgment about any of them for the differences. This course also a good reminder for me that whatever calamities happen to me, I know that Allah will take care of me. Also, love the sheikh’s recitation of Qur’an MashaAllah.” –Dewi Abdul Rahim Mokti
