UMA Condemns the Massacre of Peaceful Demonstrators in Egypt
(Sunnyvale, CA 08/14/2013) – The United Muslims of America (UMA), a public affairs organization, condemns the massacre of pro-democracy protesters in Egypt today by Egyptian military and calls for lifting the newly imposed state of emergency and to restore the basic human rights.
While UMA condemns the killing of peaceful protesters, it also condemns the reported attacks on Christian and other faiths people’s properties in Egypt and calls for establishment of national unity in the face of concerted campaigns to divide Egyptian society along religious and political lines.
UMA welcomes the US government’s condemnation of today’s violence against the people, who had been protesting peacefully for weeks in support of democratic rights, and urges President Obama to move beyond condemnation and help restore democracy and the rule of law in Egypt.
