“The Ummah of Muhammad (s): WAKE UP”
By Mamdud Ahmed
The blessed month of Ramadan has come to its end, but this should not mean that the worship that nearly 1.7 billion Muslims around the world have performed should cease to exist as well. The month of Ramadan has innumerable blessings, which if one acknowledges, will hope to have those blessings throughout the year. Some of these blessings include building the consciousness of one’s Rabb (Lord), through self-discipline of inner nafs, or carnal desires, the doors of Heaven wide open, whereas the doors of the horrendous Hell-Fire are closed.
The ummah (nation) of Prophet Muhammad (s) is suffering like never before. We all perceived in media outlets how our beloved Muslim brothers and sisters are experiencing persecution, oppression, and the like in their own dwelling places such as in Syria and Burma. One scholar noted how millions of Muslims are praying for the aforementioned Muslims, praying for the betterment of this ummah, praying to Allah Subhanan Wa Ta’ala to grant us victory. He then went on to mention how does Allah Ta’ala not hear us? Is He not the most Karim, or Generous anymore? No! Allah Ta’ala has always been the Most Generous to His creation, but it is His creation that wrongs their own souls and brings about destruction. Allah Subhana Wa Ta’ala says in the Holy Qu’ran: “Do they {then} wait for anything except that the angels should come to them or your Lord should come or that there come some of the signs of your Lord? The Day that some of the signs of your Lord will come, no soul shall benefit from its faith as long as it had not believed before or had earned through its faith some good…(6:158).
I make mention of this above verse because it correlates with the month of Ramadan. During this month, we were to repent and turn back to Allah Ta’ala. This blessed month, a month in which the Battle of Badr was won, where the Muslims were 313 and the enemies nearly a 1,000, Allah Ta’ala gave us victory. What’s the difference between the Muslims of today and the Muslims of the time of Prophet Muhammad (s) and the righteous predecessors? They all clung to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah (teachings) of Prophet Muhammad (s). Today, with what ease do the followers of Muhammad (s), shave the beard of?! My brothers and sisters, now is the time to act! Ramadan was meant for us to prepare ourselves for the months ahead. Now is the ever the time to acquire knowledge of this beautiful deen (religion) of Islam, to implement that knowledge, and to convey to the four corners of the world. Now is the time to believe and to act, lest we should be like Pharaoh and his associates, and believe when it’s too late! I ask the Cherisher of the worlds to Guide Us All to the Straight Path. Say ameen!
