The Power of Believing
By Imam Abdullah El-Amin, MMNS
“I can do what this Qur’an says I can do.”
“For Sure! Successful are those who believe, who are humble in their prayers; who avoid vain talk; who are punctual and diligent in paying zakat; who guard their private parts except from their spouses or those who are legally in their possession, for in that case they will not be blamed. But those who seek to go beyond that in lust are the ones who are transgressors. Those who are true to their trusts and covenants and strictly guard their prayers are the heirs who will inherit paradise and live therein forever.â€
Al-Mu`minoon: 1-11
ALLAH, The Almighty, has already equipped you with everything you need to be victorious in everything you pursue – except getting next to Him. You can never equal ALLAH even if you use 100% of what He has given you.
ALLAH says He has already set in motion the Believers’ eventual victory. This is one of the majestic characteristics of our make-up. Our Lord has given our brains and minds the power to turn belief into action. Prophet Isa ibn Maryam (as) says in Injil to the woman who grabbed his garment, “your faith has healed you.†Remember, according to Allah, there is nothing under the sun we can’t overcome – if you believe you can. So when ALLAH says the “believers will eventually win through,†He is saying they have already won.
This is so very important to know, especially if you are depressed about having some bad breaks. You’ve had bad breaks, I’ve had bad breaks – everybody we know has, and will have bad breaks. The difference is; what is your attitude and response to the bad breaks?
What is your attitude to that person or those persons that have your destruction as their main agenda item? Do you give them more attention than they deserve; or do you focus on them as one who believes that ALLAH has equipped you with more than He has equipped those who do wrong? I declare that if you focus more on your strengths and less on the perceived strengths of others, your faith will save you too.
I heard a religious leader speaking about the spider’s amazing ability to not get caught in his own web. The spider web is composed of a very sticky substance that will hold prey many times larger and stronger than spider. Yet the spider glides along on the web with ease. The secret is ALLAH gave the spider a special anointing oil that oozes out of his feet and allows him to glide along on his own “trap.â€
This protection of the spider’s oil is like the protection of our faith. Believing in ALLAH and having faith gives us a good attitude to correct and right any wrongs that come our way.
Islam is growing every day and our best days are in front of us. We are gaining strength even though the enemies of Islam work relentlessly to destroy it. This proves the promise of ALLAH. The believers will, without doubt win. Get a good attitude about it. You’re already equipped.
