Samsung Names Omar Khan Senior VP of Strategy
NEW YORK– Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) announced the appointment of Omar Khan as Senior Vice President of Strategy. He will be responsible for developing company’s business strategies for wireless handsets, infrastructure and business communications systems. Further he will also look after product management.
Prior to the joining, Khan worked at Motorola as Vice President of Global Supply Chain for the Mobile Devices Business where he was responsible to manage business operations in 36 countries.
Commenting upon his appointment, Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Mobile said “Samsung prides itself on its strong relationships with our carrier partners and meeting the needs of our customers. Omar’s leadership and vision will play a vital role in bringing innovative, customer-focused wireless solutions to the marketplace in an efficient and quality fashion.â€
In 2007, Khan was rewarded with “40 under 40†award by Crain’s Chicago Business Magazine which recognizes him among 40 talented leaders below 40 years of age in several industries and professions like technology, financial services, politics, entertainment, etc.
Khan holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Khan completed his graduate work at the Sloan School of Management in the field of System Dynamics.
