NEW BALTIMORE,MI–Saba Malouf, a Spanish teacher at the Anchor Bay High School, was given the teacher of the year award by the school board. She was among the three teachers to receive the award this year.
Malouf has been teaching in the district for a decade and the officials were all praise for her.
“We had an outstanding group of Spanish teachers coming for us and we could have hired any one of the four that we interviewed, but we hired the best one,” a school district official said at the school board meeting. “She also speaks Urdu, so she has the bilingual endorsement, as well, so if we have kids come over from that section of the Middle East, we have somebody who can help them along to get an education.”
Malouf told the Anchor Bay newspaper that she not only teachers her students Spanish, but also wants to mold them into better human beings. She said receiving the teacher of the year award validates all of the hard work she has put into her career.
