Plymouth Township Approves Rayyan Center Mosque Project
By Syed Abrarul Haque
On Wednesday November 19, Plymouth Township unanimously approved the Rayyan Center Mosque Project located on 5 mile road. This facility will be nearly 18,000 square feet, built on over 12 acres, with an estimated cost of 1.8 million dollars.
This approval was achieved, in part due to coalition building between Muslims from Canton, Livonia, Novi, Northville and surrounding areas. Some area residents objected to the project, citing concerns about traffic congestion. However, many other community members, including Sheikh Mohammad Ali Elahi, Imam of House of Wisdom Mosque and Rev. Lisa Tucker Gray of St. Johns Episcopal Church, voiced full support for this project.
