Mohammed Qasim, resident of West Bloomfield passed away on his own driveway on March 8th, 2011 at around 3:00 PM. He was unloading the groceries from his car when it unexpectedly started moving and ran him over. Mr. Qasim was pronounced dead on the spot.
Mr. Qasim was a very active and dynamic personality of the local Pakistani community and a past president of PAA. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends. May Allah bless him with Jannah.
The Salat al-Janazah was held Thursday, March 10th at 1:00 PM at Tawheed Center, Farmington Hills. It was attended by so many people that the parking lot overflowed beyond capacity. The prayer hall was filled with perhaps 1,000 people who came to show respectsâ€”people from many ethnicities and walks of life.
Mr. Qasim was involved in AFMIâ€™s 2010 Convention Planning Committee, and had been the immediate past president of the Pakistan Association of America, based in Michigan. Mr. Qasim was notable for his soft and gentle nature.
He leaves behind two children and a bereaved widow.
