Norwalk mosque finds permanent home
NORWALK,CT–The Al Madany Islamic Center of Norwalk has found a permanent home. The mosque announced last week that it has purchased the property of a former Episcopal Church for $1.65 million.
According to a statement released by Al Madany, “Norwalk’s Muslim community traces its roots to the early 1970s, originally meeting for nearly 30 years for Friday prayers in the basement of one of its member’s homes. As the community has grown to more than 100 families, the space could no longer accommodate the expanding community of worshippers.”
The mosque is also non-sectarian with both Sunnis and Shias as members.
