Mehmood Khan, Vice Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer at Pepsico, has been named among the world’s most creative people by the Fast Company magazine for the year 2015. He has been selected for “stimulating the world’s taste buds.”
Khan had played an important role in developing new and unfamiliar products. As head of R&D, he has helped the company design a lower-sodium salt crystal and has used sophisticated aerospace-industry computers to create a crunchier Lay’s potato chip.
He is currently collaborating with farmers in India to harvest cashew fruit—which is usually discarded after the more valuable nut is collected—and make a nutrient-rich juice that contains five times as much vitamin C as orange juice.
