Flint Mosque Supports Dr. Taj for Congress

On Wednesday, July 18, 2012 the Flint Islamic community held a successful fundraiser dinner for congressional candidate Dr. Syed Taj. This event was held at the residence of Dr. M. Ahmed Arif and was co-hosted by the Michigan Muslim Democratic Caucus.
Many renowned physicians and businessmen from the Flint community embraced this event with their presence and helped generously to raise funds for Dr. Taj’s congressional campaign for District 11.
Dr. Taj (former Chief of Staff-Oakwood Hospital) has become a viable candidate for the Democratic Party for his district. Dr. Taj has been endorsed by Senator Debbie Stabenow, Congressmen; Keith Ellison, André Carson, Gary Peters, along with State Representatives; Rashida Tlaib, Vicki Barnett, Tim Greimel, Dian Slavens, and many other local and state level officials. With the backing of the Democratic Party, Dr. Taj is a strong candidate for this seat. Dr. Taj believes in protecting Social Security and improving Medicare. He also believes in healthcare for all and equal access to affordable education for all Americans.
Dr. Shahid Tahir, who formally introduced Dr. Taj, also emphasized the importance of engaging in the social political arena. As the Chairman of the Michigan Muslim Democratic Caucus and representing the Muslim community, Dr. Tahir further emphasized that going forward, the Muslim community needs to get involved; he believes that is the only way we can add an extra color to the overall fabric of our adopted homeland, United States of America.
