Deadlines for MDCR Youth Advisory Council Essays Extended

The deadline for essays for the Michigan Civil Rights Youth Advisory Council has been extended to Friday, May 29. Students writing the essays should address these two questions (500 word essay limit):
â—“What are the most pressing civil rights issues facing Michigan?
â—What role will Michigan youth play in addressing the future of race relations?â€
A panel will review each essay and select the pilot program participants from those essays.
Requirements: This is open to 10th through 12th grade students who live and/or attend school in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Livingston or Monroe counties.
Essays can be mailed to:
MDCR Youth Advisory Council, 3054 W Grand Blvd, Suite 3-600, Detroit, MI 48202. Or they can be submitted electronically to mdcryouth@michigan.gov.
