Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona held its first speaker workshop of the year

The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona (ISBA) organized its first quarter Continued Speaker Education workshop on Feb. 16.
This Sunday workshop welcomed ISBA’s current and newly added speakers who have joined the organization to counter Islamophobia by educating the local community about Islam and Muslims.
The workshop began in the afternoon at ISBA’s main office near downtown Scottsdale. Guests munched on light refreshments as they discussed strategies and suggestions while the projector reflected workshop’s agenda on the center wall.
Jill Stoller, secretary and communications director of ISBA, managed the workshop with ease.
The room invited views and suggestions without any hesitation. The six attendees came from diverse ethnic backgrounds and careers, yet one common goal united them in this one blue office – to bring about positive community growth and mutual understanding.
The Continued Speaker Education workshop is divided into four parts spread across the year with two to three months apart. The goal of these workshops is to keep ISBA’s mission and vision fresh in the minds of its speakers as well as recognize and suggest improvements to the speaker certification program.
2014 is an important year for ISBA as it completes its 15th anniversary and looks forward to building solid interfaith relationships in the Valley.
