Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and his Indian partner Rohan Bopanna bowed out in the quarter-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters at Monte-Carlo, Monaco, this past week. Qureshi and Bopanna were unseeded in the event, falling to the third-seeded pair of Marcelo Melo of Brazil and Ivan Dodig of Croatia, by a close score of 7-6 (7-4), 7-5.
Melo is ranked fifth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world men’s doubles rankings, and Dodig sixth. Qureshi, meanwhile, has slumped to 26th in the world rankings, with Bopanna sitting at 14th. Qureshi and Bopanna, nicknamed the Indopak Express, are currently competing in the Barcelona Open, in preparation for next month’s French Open.
