New mosque proposed in Folsom
FOLSOM,CA–Folsom city in Sacramento County will see a new mosque by 2016 if all the approvals are obtained. The city’s planning commission is considering a 31,668-square-foot Masjid Bilal Community Center.
Riaz Siddique, president of the Islamic Society of Folsom, told the Sacramento Business Journal that the community center will include a mosque, events center, kindergarten-through-8th-grade school and daycare center.
The society has many of those services now, he said, but spread over several locations and not always in ideal situations. Parking is an issue at some, as is the architecture itself.
“We need to have a facility that meets all the requirements,” he said. “And also one that exhibits Islamic architecture from the ground up.”
