Former Federal Minister Pakistan and the Patron-in-Chief of Mutaihidah Qaumi Movement (MQM) North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui set the scene in front of a huge gathering of concerned Pakistanis and enthusiasts of MQM, with his vibrant speech full of difficult questions to answer, about the performance of MQM in Pakistan during the ongoing tenure of Government of the Pakistan People Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), by the keynote speaker Member of National Assembly Pakistan (MNA) and the Deputy Parliamentary Leader of MQM Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi.

This happened at the 16th Annual Convention of MQM USA, held at the Pakistan Center in Houston this past Saturday. Hundreds of workers and supporters from USA and Pakistan were present on the occasion. Office bearers from MQM Central Karachi Pakistan, Moid Siddiqui (member of provincial assembly Sindh), and Shabbir Qaimi (former member provincial assembly Sindh) were present at the opening ceremony. Central Organizer MQM USA Junaid Fahmi spoke and welcomed the guests.

Jamshed Warsi of MQM Houston welcomed everyone. After the different wings of MQM USA presented their annual performance reports to the Central Organizing Committee of MQM USA, Dr. Khalid Maqbool made his speech, asking questions; saying that Pakistani leaders like Zardari, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Aslam Raeesani, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, and so on; even their names show they are not poor people; how come MQM has able to be part of such a Government; one time even came out, only to go back into the same system. He went on to cite several other examples and asked as to why MQM is making such decisions.

In his usual expressive style, Syed Haider Abba Rizvi exclaimed that in all facets of life, Pakistan and Pakistanis are facing huge challenges, which have never been there in the past. He said just like the 1971 elections are called the most crystal clear elections, similarly 2008 elections were neat & clean. None of the MQM people ever voted in general elections for the people, about whom there have been so many question asked. He said political isolation has never helped people of MQM, as we have lost hundreds of people, when we adopted this policy. Today also if we make decisions that can take MQM to isolation, we see the flames appearing on the Cut Mountain (Katee Paharee). When we came out of the Government, other than the internal pressure of killings of MQM people, an unprecedented thing happened where several ambassadors of major countries of the world met Leader of MQM Altaf Hussain in London, asking him to rejoin the Government or otherwise people of MQM and Pakistan will face consequences.

He said MQM is the Collective Bargaining Agent of the people; meaning they look at the interest of the people, and at time have to make decisions based on lesser loss than based on just profits
He said MQM wanted Qamar Zaman Kaira to become Prime Minister, but Chaudhry Shujat due to Gujrat politics was against Mr. Kaira; and as such Raja Pervez Ashraf was chosen a compromised choice. At this juncture, it is necessary to continue the parliament by keeping the institutes away from any confrontation.
