Having Faith from ALLAH
By Imam Abdullah El-Amin
“ALLAH, there is no G’d but He. And on ALLAH, therefore, let the believers put their trust.â€
“In the case of those who say, “Our Lord is ALLAH,†and, further, stand straight and steadfast, the angels descend on them (from time to time). Fear not (they say), “nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of the Garden (of Bliss), the which you were promised.
“We are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter: therein shall you have all that you shall desire; therein shall you have all that you ask for. A hospitable gift from One Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.â€
There is only One Diety for all creation, for all time – and that is ALLAH. Believing that and walking (strutting) thru the earth acting on it, is the surest course to happiness and peace in this life, as well as the next life.
When you think about it, you exercise faith every day in your life. For instance, you must have faith that your food will digest in your body. Once it passes your throat, you have no more control over what happens to that food. You cannot tell your liver to secrete bile, or your pancreas to release pancreatic juice. And as every diabetic knows, you don’t consciously control your insulin. It is ALLAH that has everything set in motion for you. This is total faith in ALLAH alone.
On another level, you cannot have faith in mankind either – not even in your own self. You may be the strongest, smartest, best-looking person around but you are still vunerable because you are a human being. Eventually you will fail even yourself.
When we pray Al Fatiha, two main points are emphasized. We acknowledge that ALLAH is Lord over everything and then we ask Him for guidance. And we are very specific in naming ALLAH as our object of worship. We say “Eyaaka na’budu.â€
Eyaaka being a very strong word for you – leaving no room or question that you are referring to someone else.
We also say ALLAH is the Master of our eventual fate. He, alone, controls the Day of Judgement, the billions of people who have gone before, the approximately 6 billlion alive today who are going, and the untold billions yet to come.
With ALLAH such awesome power, and His instructing us how to utilize it, it only makes sense to put all your faith only in Him. We must have faith that if we put the directives of ALLAH into practice, wonderful, positive results will follow our actions.
We must try and emulate the faith of the prophets of ALLAH. ALLAH showed the Messenger (s) – and us through the revelation – that He is with us even in our darkest hour. He gave us revelation to assure us that when we feel worn out, goodness will come to us. The trick is don’t “sit down on the job.†Keep faith in what you are doing. Know that ALLAH told you to take this course of action and that it will be a fruitful, productive result. Be strong against the Shaitan mentality that seeks to lower and destroy you. ALLAH is Akbar (Greater).
With ALLAH’S name, the Merciful Benefactor, Merciful Redeemer
