Fundraiser at Tawheed Center, Farmington Hills
By Adil James, Muslim Media News Service (MMNS)
Farmington Hills–September 22–Construction continues apace at the Tawheed Center in Farmington. The mosque held a fundraiser this past Saturday after iftar at their mosque.
About 300 people were present, according to Asim Khan, Chair of the Board of Trustees, and the mosque collected about $160,000 in cash and pledges to continue with the construction project they are currently undergoing which began with a vast expansion of the parking lot and is expected to end with an almost doubling of the prayer area. The current phase involves building on the Tawheed Center lot which to date has comprised the laying of a foundation–this required sustained help from DTE and Consumers Energy to move electrical and gas infrastructure from the zone of the foundation. This phase of the project should require about $800,000, of which the mosque has now collected in cash and savings about $500,000, plus about $100,000 in pledges.
The Tawheed Center has completed serious work to arrange a rigorous Sunday school under its imam Sohel. If you are interested, please call Mr. Khan at 313-506-3215.
