Congratulations To Pakistan And Pakistanis All Over The World
By Almas Akhtar, TMO
On the 16th of March 2013 National Assembly of Pakistan completed its full five year term for the first time, despite all the inflation, violence, energy crisis, security concerns faced by the people. It seems a tiny step for a 65 year old middle aged country, yet it is a time of celebration that finally Pakistan has followed a democratic process. Yes there are tons of problems, yes it is a poor third world country with too much to “fix .but the journey is always started with a “first step.†General Elections will be held in mid-May 2013. A caretaker government will soon be announced which will oversee the elections. The people of Pakistan have been through a lot: three wars, army rule, corruption, inflation and security concerns. Pakistan has a population of over 180 million with a very low literacy rate. This is considered a great landmark in the history of the country whose people wish for a “democratic state.â€
Let’s hope that the people of Pakistan are able to see democracy prevail in their country. Let’s hope that the people of Pakistan are able to built a better and stronger Pakistan.
