South Nevada’s first Muslim cemetery approved
LAS VEGAS,NV–The Clark County Commission’s Zoning Board unanimously approved the proposal for an Islamic cemetery last week. It will be the first in South Nevada and will be run on not for profit basis. Until now Muslims had few burial options in the area. Commissioners approved the plans with around two dozen conditions.
The plan had faced some opposition with neighbors expressing concern about property values and traffic. Dr.Osama Haikal, the main backer of the cemetery, said those concerns will be addressed and that cemetery will actually increase the property values in the area.
