Al-Farouq Aminu Starts His First Pro Season

dc2010_alfarouq_aminu_320x160Los Angeles Clippers rookie forward Al-Farouq Aminu is trying to get acclimated to the pace of the National Basketball Association during the first month of play in his rookie season. So far the Wake Forest University product is averaging a paltry 2.8 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game. But he has only played an average of 10 minutes per game over the team’s first four games as coach Vinny Del Negro tries to ease him into the rotation. Coach Del Negro is trying to keep things simple by keeping Aminu at small forward much of the time rather than complicate things for the rookie by having him play too much power forward.

Aminu made news during the summer while playing on the Clippers’ summer league team. The coach found him his energy level to be lacking in the summer league games and at the practices, only to find out that Al-Farouq was staying up until 1 AM practicing his jump shot. And this was in Las Vegas while his teammates were hitting the casinos. Mashallah, talk about work ethic.
