Event for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund
By Susan Schwartz, TMO
The Southern California chapter of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) cordially invites the community to a banquet on May 26th at Dandana’s Restaurant in Glendora, Ca. The event will begin at 6:00 pm.
In addition to great food and companionship, there will be a panel discussion on the work of PCRF.
The three panelists will be volunteer nurses who have taken an active part in the missions of PCRF The moderator will be one of our veteran activists.
A quartet of dancers who specialize in Lebanese dance steps will entertain the guests.
Guests will also see video clips of two of our recent patients who arrived in Southern California with grievous injuries and, after treatment, were able to look forward to a full life.
The Palestine Children’s Relief Fund was created in 1991 to provide otherwise inaccessible medical treatment for Middle Eastern children. PCRF treats children with war injuries, physical ailments, and congenital problems. Most recently PCRF announced the opening of a Pediatric Cancer Center in the West Bank named in honor of Huda Al Masry Sosebee, the late wife of its President, Steve Sosebee.
To name but a few of the fields covered by the PCRF: pediatric cardiology; pediatric urology; pediatric plastic surgery; dental care; motorized wheelchairs, and a summer camp for disabled children. Each and every service is provided free of care to the children and their families. PCRF sends teams of medical personnel to treat the children and to instruct local medical teams . PCRF covers the travel costs of these teams. If this is deemed not feasible, the child is flown free of charge – with perhaps an adult companion – to a hospital in the United States, Europe, Chile or the UAE for treatment at no cost.

PCRF has become one of the most effective children’s charity in the world and has won high praise from such humanitarians as Bishop Desmond Tutu and former President Jimmy Carter.
